"Mikey" Porter was riding horses before she could walk. One of the first female jockeys in the early 1950's, she began training horses in that same decade. She has specialized in the unique art of taming and training Mustangs for the past twelve years. She has been an avid ambassador for the wild horse since 1993 by exhibiting her own Mustangs, conducting workshops, demonstrating training techniques, and performing at major horse expositions. She and her Mustangs have won many awards in various disciplines and she is widely credited with increasing the respect of the Mustang in horse circles.
"Mikey's" overwhelming love for the horse is manifested in her unique approach to training horses. In stark contrast to the "cowboy" method of hard breaking a horse, "Mikey" prefers a style of training self-fashinoned around winning the heart and respect of the horse. She shows unwavering care for the equine by using a progressive training program customized to fit the individual horse and its learning aptitude. The results are no less than superelative.
